Rena Wren releases debut solo CD entitled “Sweet Mystery”

Rena Wren, a singer/songwriter originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, but now residing in Hot Springs, Arkansas, will release her first solo CD on November 24, 2009.  An independent artist, Rena wrote and self-produced the 15-track project entitled “Sweet Mystery” and recorded the entire CD with Jason Tedford at Wolfman Studios in Little Rock, Arkansas.  According to Rena, “Sweet Mystery” is about the bittersweet journey through love, friendship and relationships and embodies all of the accompanying intricacies and serendipitous extremes.  The CD contains a kaleidoscope of songs ranging from the rock-driven, pulsating revenge anthem “Aftermath,” to the vulnerable acoustic ponderings of  “Do You Wanna Talk,” a song about a conversation you need to have, but aren’t quite sure how.  Other noteworthy songs on the CD include crowd favorite, “The State of Things,” also known as “The Bouncy Song,” as well as “Tell Me Ten Times,” a sort of tongue-in-cheek ode to codependency; “Red Dress” a song about the next chapter in the life of Tommy Tutone’s character, Jenny; and “Light of Day,” a hopeful song of fruition and eventual peace.
A songwriter from about age 10, Rena describes her music as honestly spontaneous, vibrant and well, from her “soul’s earth.”  She says the songs simply write her.  Rena’s band consists of Rodgey Roach (bass), Joel Frye (drums), Rodney Roach (guitar), Matt Stone (guitar, banjo, dobro, mandolin, lap steel), and Laura Lynn Cardenas (vocals).  Rena’s band performs locally and regionally on a regular basis.  Noted venues are The Big Chill in Hot Springs, B.B. King’s in Nashville, TN, and Sticky Fingerz in Little Rock, AR.  On November 14, 2009, Rena and her bassist husband Rodgey Roach will set out on a 10-day promotional tour from Nashville to NYC and back.  Stops along the way include an acoustic show at Ri’chard’s Café in Nashville, TN; a rock show in Brat Management’s “Future of Rock” showcase at Otto’s Shrunken Head in NYC; an acoustic show at Caffe Vivaldi in NYC; and a small concert at The Purple Fiddle in West Virginia. Complete schedule and venue information is available at www.renawren.com.
The Big Chill in Hot Springs, AR, will host the CD release party on November 24, 2009, from 8 pm until midnight.  Rena’s band and various friends and folks will also perform that evening. The CD will be available at Rena’s live shows, her website, CDBaby.com, Itunes, Digstation, and a myriad of other stores both online and off.  To sign up for Rena’s newsletter and to view calendar, photos and other artist info, please visit www.renawren.com.  For bookings, e-mail rena@renawren.com.
