[Nightflying Notes From The Pub]

Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans…
        ---John Lennon

Greetings and salutations to you all. It is now 4:45 in the a.m. of this remarkably FM day, as I sit here pegging in the final tidbits of musical lore for this, our final issue of the year of the Lord, 2010.
My only question is, exactly where did this year go? Judging by the piles of noosepapers stacked around this office, I'm thinking that the year is pretty much tucked away in these pages…and, of course, so it the time itself.
I had a revelation recently: when we were much younger time was essentially large. An hour was a whole hour, and depending on the activity, took a long time to pass. Then it got smaller and smaller, until that hour seemed to but take a blink of an eye…which grew into whole days, and then weeks, then months, and now, gasp, years. I'm not sure as to why, mind you, but now it seems that this entire year went by in a milliesecond.
I do have a theory, though: it happens when we fill up our lives with "stuff"…stuff to think and stuff to say and stuff to do, and well, just "stuff" it tends to make time much smaller. Oh, I know it's supposed to be a matter of "growing up" and all that…but what is the purpose? What do we really achieve when we pile it on our daily plate to the point that we don't even notice it elapsing? And for that matter, what is it all for? Is it to be called "success" when we have every waking moment crammed with "stuff"? Or is it a part of the Vast Unknown that we experience as life proceeds to take us under its' wing?
These are the things I dream about, and usually wake up needing to go to the bathroom, as if by unloading that 'burden' will make things right again…at least for a short time (which seems to be getting shorter by the minute…)

In Particular…….
As some of you may have noticed by our cover, we are celebrating the 30th birthday of Nightflying. The actual birthday is December 8th, when we recall how we frantically tore up one of our first pages just after we had finished it for that first issue when it came on the radio that John Lennon had just been shot. One of my assistants asked if we should include the sad news, to which I replied that "it IS music news, you know…" Quite by accident we actually 'scooped' every other Arkansas publication with that horrible news.
And that was the first real lesson of noosepapering for me: you break the news when it breaks, regardless of what you'd planned to do instead.

And how do I feel about this? I'm still amazed at the scope of the matter. Ultimately, I've spent 30 years now without having to get a real job…as in 'work'…labor…toil and trouble…
The sheer caliber of the musicianship in these parts actually amazes me even more now than then. I know I'm sounding like a broken record at times, but I cannot get over the fact that we are surrounded by world-quality music-makers so much so that we take them for granted.
Artists such as Earl Cate and Lucious Spiller and Trout Fishing In America and Gil Franklin and Chuck Gilbert and Joey Farr abound in The Altered State. The Schwag is as good as it gets in the world and probably beyond. John Calvin Brewer and Joe Pitts and Shannon Boshears and Big John Miller and Tragikly White and Tom Ware and Hayes Carll and Amy Garland and
Nick Devlin are, in my opinion, some of the best musicians of the world. Not only can they hold their own in any company, they far surpass many of the million-dollar rock stars when it comes to ability.
I'll put Tom Ware and Earl Cate in the same category as Eric Clapton any day.
Chris Cameron and Gary Hutchison are truly stellar guitarists, and Rachel Ammons and Bob Lewis are at least as entertaining as anyone out there.
And what do I get out of this? Among other things, I get to watch and listen to these folks making music as often as I please…and get to call it a "job." I ask you, is this a great country or what?!!

Of course there really is a lot of work involved with putting together this publication. There are hours and hours of prep time, and of course there are many, many miles to cover to achieve the necessaries…the financing, the gathering of information, shooting the photos, making the 'parts' necessary and all that. But I'm thinking that if I had some other job it couldn't be nearly as pleasant nor as rewarding.
As a musician my real fringe benefit is getting world-class music lessons every time I go to work to 'cover' these players. Sharing my thoughts with the collective YOU is a real pleasure, and turning folks onto good music is its' own reward. I seldom have to use the phrase "I told you so" when referring a music lover to a good band, either…as it all comes back in the kharmic sense…or will, someday, anyway, I'm certain.

In closing…….
On this occasion I'd like to say a big Thank-You to you all for making this happen for me. After all, without your support in this endeavor I wouldn't be able to do this, now would I?
So here's to you…all of you…for we are all in the same boat in this world…the important thing is that we all learn to row in the same direction…….

In Central Arkansas…
The Rocky Horror Pickin' Show at Midtown was a record night. It was a ball, and absolutely nuts…not only in the club, but outside on the street. Indeed, at 3:30 in the a.m. there was still a line of costume-clad revelers stretching down the block nearly to Juanita's. (I slipped out several times, and I think the folks in line were having almost as good a time as those inside the club.)
It was wall-to-wall and asshole-to-elbow crowded as The Crumbs performed the entire soundtrack from the movie of a similar name, and they did it again as an encore later as a "late show." Of course, they play that soundtrack in Bluegrass…
Coming up at the club are dates with Embrace The Crash, the phenomenal Joey Farr & The Fuggins Wheat Band, Ghost Town Blues Band, Interstate Buffalo, Number 2 With Me & Hugh, The Pope County Bootleggers, Joecephus, The Crumbs, and more. And Joey Farr and band return for both Christmas night (open at midnight) and then again on New Year's Eve.
MidTown is open each and every day until 5 a.m.
For bookings at MidTown, contact Conan at (501)372-7110 or email him at moeman03@comcast.net…….

I'm proud to report that Dugan's Irish Pub is going great guns. The food is out of this world, the décor is sumptuous, and the crowds that hang there are a blast. Even my old partner in crime Don Rhine is now working there, along with a crazy bunch of folks who love to party, hence, they throw a good one for the customers every day.
I haven't had the chance to get by to get those photos I mentioned last time out, but that before-after photo spread is still in the works so watch for it.
Dugan's is located at 403 E. 3rd. For bookings call Don or Adam between 2 and 4 p.m. weekdays.
The menu makes our mouth water, too, just to read it through, including authentic Irish Fish & Chips, Molly Malone's Seafood Platter, fresh Salmon, Southwestern Walleye Pike, Irish Stew, Shepherd's Pie, Guinness Chicken, Bangers & Mash…and of course, Corned Beef & Cabbage.
The enormous multi-directional fireplace is always going, and the place is just a sheer delight across the board.
    What's more, there's never a cover charge, even when there's a band (!)
Call (501)244-0542 for details and information, and make a point to get by here…it's worth it…

Rumba Revolution, aka The Rev Room, has been tearing it up lately.
In the coming month look for the likes of Boom! Kinetic, Casey Donahue, The Elise Davis Band, Pretty Things Peep Show, The Diamond Dames, EOTO, Wolf E. Wolf, Old 97s, Whiskey Folk Ramblers, a Toys For Tots Fundraiser featuring Kingsdown, A Good Fight, Ilia, KG and more…Also on the bill in the coming weeks are Jason Boland & The Stragglers, The Trey Hawkins Band, Sno White, Kelly Trance, Lucero, Cory Brannan and Hayes Carll for New Year's Eve.
The restaurant side serves up delicious and authentic South Seas cuisine, has a full bar and a cool full-service outdoor deck facing the river, with live bands outside when the weather is right.
For bookings contact Chris King at (501)372-1151…….

Down at the other end of the Market is Sticky Fingerz Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicken Shack.
Here the food is quite good, there are two bars (inside), and another outside on the deck, and some of the best bands possible.
I'm pleased to report that Stickies will be the site of our Nightflying: 30 Years To Life Anniversary Bash on Tuesday, Deember 28.
Tuesday, PR? Yes, Tuesday…an off-night of the week when the most bands are idly available to play for our parties.
On our bill are Earl & Them (AKA The Cate Brother Band), The Pope County Bootleggers, The Joe Pitts Band, Typhoid Mary, Andy Tanas (of Black Oak and Krokus fame), The Bluegrass Bombers, Bob Boyd, Salt & Pepper, Bob Hayes & Bud Bell, and a bunch more. Don't you dare miss this party…we won't have another one this big for another 30 years…
And coming up at Stickies, catch Dikki Du & The Zydeco Krewe, The Venus Mission, Johnny Cooper, Taylor Made, Toubab Krewe, Cas Haley, Weakness For Blondes and for New Year's, The Hosty Duo.
Sticky Fingerz is a smoker-friendly establishment, serves excellent food, has music nightly, and has a great outdoor patio as well.
To reach the club call (501)372-7707, and for bookings call Chris King at (501)372-1151…….

I spent an evening judging the Point 94.1 guitar contest, and may I say that each and every contestant can play twice as better than I can. The winner was Kyle Flory, who also took top honors last year.
The truth is that each player was excellent, and the crowd of people that attended were the real winners.
On the bill in the coming weeks are Goldy Locks, The Seth Freeman Band, Raising Grey, Subdue, Max Taylor & The Blue Katz, The Gettys Bushdog, The Pop Tart Monkeys for New Year's, and One Bent Minute.
West End is a superb sports bar, too, with dozens of tvs of all sizes to show virtually every televised ball game of every kind.
AND they serve their full menu until 1:30 in the morning…meaning you don't have to stop at Walmart or a stop 'n' rob store for your late-night munchies.
Check it out first chance you get…you'll thank me later…
    For bookings call (501)224-7665…….

The White Water Tavern checks in this issue with a very fine musical line-up.
The White Water is very much a legendary music room, having been a true live music venue now for around 4 decades. Consider just how much great vibes have been soaked up in those wooden walls during that time…it's scary to even think about.
Live music is every Monday through Saturday. There are pool tables upstairs, and the kitchen serves up some excellent food for both lunch and dinner.
Coming up at the tavern are Ken Stringfello, David Slade, Bryan Frazier, David's Pegasus, Cold Mold, Big Silver, The Frontier Circus, Chris Michaels & The Cranks, Glossary, Slobberbone, Micah Schnabel, The Dirty Streets, T Model Ford (!!!), The See, Reptar, The Catskill Kids, Iron Tongue, Wicked Good, Velvet Kente, The Blackberry Bushes, Frown Pow'r, The Big Cats, Smoke Up Johnny, Brother Andy & His Big Damn Mouth, The Body, The Patrick Sweany Band, and more.
There's a party room upstairs and a very nice outdoor garden for the tobacco-inclined…like me…
For bookings and directions call Matt White at (501)375-8400…….

The Town Pump continues to be a primary party destination for Central Arkansas. It's no surprise, either, since Dane Harris is the owner (this man literally grew up in the Infamous Vapers Nightclub in Hot Springs back when the illegal gambling was going on…not to mention he ran with a bunch of wild and crazy musicians like Steve Roach and Roger Clinton…) Let's just say he's seen it…
In the coming weeks look for the Flaming Death Fearies, The Karla Case Band, Silver Service, Ben Coulter's Delta Outlaws, Rena Wren & Friends, a cd release bash with The Joe Pitts Band, Greg Madden and a bunch more.
Debbi T and Ts Tunes hosts karaoke every Tuesday as well.
See the Sound pages for the dates and details.
And of course there is football on screen whenever the games are on the field…especially any televised Razorback games.
For bookings contact Dane at the club in the afternoons at (501)663-9987…….

Grumpy’s Too checks in with a line-up of excellent musicians this month.
Coming up in the next month are Tim Meitzen, Chris Henry, Olivia Burnett, Steele Jessup, Wes & Karl, Larue & Wagner, Jovan Arellano, Ryan Couron and Barrett Baber and a lot more. Tim Meitzen will handle New Year's Eve.
Grumpy's Too is a sports bar, as well, and there are "jillions of inches" of tv screens throughout the club showing virtually every game there is (probably simultaneously) on a nightly basis.
What's more, there's never a cover charge at Grumpy's, even when they're doing one of their massive parties (like Mardi Gras, Cinco De Mayo, and St. Patrick's Day).
For bookings at Grumpy’s Too call (501)225-3768…….

Denton's Trotline's The Back Porch is one of the most successful nightclubs in Arkansas now. That spacious indoor-outdoor full-service Deck (the Back Porch), stays easily as busy as the wonderful seafood buffet that until a year ago was the club's bread & butter.
I got to see Typhoid Mary there recently, and as usual was extremely impressed. This is a cracker-jack party band that always packs the house. It's a treat when they take over that stage and I try to get by there whenever they're appearing. (You can see them at the Nightflying anniversary party…)
In the coming weeks are Mister Lucky, The Gettys, Tragikly White, The Ryan Couron Band, Larry Lee Cheiser, Subdue…and Typhoid Mary to ring in the New Year…
Every Tuesday is Open Mic hosted by Big John and of course, he also hosts karaoke every Wednesday.
Just take the Congo exit in Benton and the Trotline is right there next to I-30.
If you haven't been to Denton's for a while, you owe it to yourself to pay them a visit.
Bands looking for bookings should call Robert Denton at (501)315-1717 in the afternoons…….

The Markham Street Grill checks in with their usual excellent line-up.
It is open 7 days a week, features great live music, very fine food, excellent bar service, and a staff that will cater to your every need. (There's that temptation notion again…)
It features free Wifi, a multitude of tv screens and serves up all things sports, and serves the full menu late into the night.
Set to appear in the coming weeks are White Collar Criminals, The Shannon Bohears Band, Brian Nahlen & Nick Devlin, The Trustees, The Paper Boys and Cody Belew.
See the Sound pages for all the listings and dates.
For bookings and information on both clubs call (501)224-2010…….

In Hot Springs…
Things are sort of quiet in the Spa these days, but it always gets this way in the Fall. Actually, I think the townspeople rather like that. After the rip-roaring Spring through Summer seasons it actually can feel rather good to lay back and enjoy the quiet. But not for long, though…come December the professional horse folks begin to roll into town and the races kick off in January. Needless to say, those pros who follow the ponies throughout the country are a pretty hard-partying bunch.

We're proud to announce that the Nightflying 30 Years To Life anniversary party will be at the Big Chill on Sunday, December 12.
On the bill is a list as long as a well-rope, including most of the Hot Springs musicians. The Bash will start at 4 p.m and go until close. On our bill are Dayton Waters, Lightnin' Lee, David Ball, The Joe Pitts Band, John 'EZ' Huzinec, Levon Walkin & Roxie, The Hired Hands, Erica Jones, Tommy Roeck, After Eden, Salt & Pepper, Mike Taber, Rena Wren, Guido Ciardetti, John Calvin Brewer, Chuck Young, Gina Parks and some guy named Peter Read, whoever he is…
There will be a special anniversary cake, and, of course, our suitable-for-framing anniversary shirts (which are collector's items, don't you know?!) It will be the party of the year in the Spa, I'm sure.
It's always good at the club, but on these special occassions it's nothing short of remarkable.
The Chill is open 7 days a week, with live music every night, and karaoke on Sundays.
Set to appear in the coming weeks are Lightnin' Lee Langdon and David Ball, Jocko, Dave Almond, Ben Coulter, Dayton Waters, Hired Hands, Taber & Young, Unseen Eye, Levon Walkin & Roxie, Larry Pearson, Oona Love, Sarah Hughes, Brian Bearden, Trey Johnson & Dave Almond, Rena Wren, Ms. Mac & The Groovetones, Sweet Mother Band, Davis Coen, Larry Pearson, Brian Bearden and a whole bunch more.
For bookings call Gina or David at the club at (501)624-5185…….

I spent a fun evening at Odie's House of Blues watching Salt & Pepper and this is a helluva band. Salt & Pepper is Tony Nardi on his amazing Hammond B-3 and vocals, Larry Womack on guitar and vocals, Steve Danger on drums, and Eddie Mobley on vocals.
Tony and Eddie played in a band together 40 years ago when they were in the service and stationed in Thailand, recorded a promo single, and that record has become a true collector's item (selling for 4 grand apiece). They play their asses off, and Eddie has a voice that is sweet as cream cheese with strawberry preserves.
Other acts set for Odie's in the coming weeks are the return of Jason D. Williams and also of the Zach Harmon Band.
And of course there's Odie's famous blues jam every Thursday featuring Hump Night, and every blues player is welcome to join in.
For bookings at Odie's call at (501)620-3596…….

Lucky's Bar & Grill checks in this month with a stellar list of players. Look for Recession Proof, House Arrest, Crash Meadows, Jason Greenlaw & The Groove, Cloud 9, After Eden and Jamestown Flood.
Lucky's is open 7 days a week, has great food for lunch and dinner, has a full bar, live bands on weekends, pool tables, arcades and a top-notch stereo system, and it's a rare smoker-friendly establishment so folks like reporter can do their thing. What's more, there's never a cover charge at Lucky's, either, leaving one more change in one's pocket for, um, refreshments.
For bookings call Mary Holt at (501)590-4772…….

Capone's Ohio checks in with a fine roster of music. Watch for Jeff Williams and Texarkana, Acoustic Eden, Levon Walkin & Roxie and more.
The word is that the club will soon be changing hands, too. Come December Mike Pettey will be taking the reins, and has many plans for the Ohio.
Keep your eyes here and I'll let you know when it comes down.
    For bookings call (501)627-0702…….

Maxine's checks in with Adam Faucett, Pretty Things Peep Show, Dirt Daubers, Seryn and Kevin Gordon and more. The dates aren't really posted anymore so you can call the club for details.
    For bookings call (501)321-0909…….

In Fort Smith…
Like most places this time of year, things are slowing down a bit in the Fort. The beer gardens and outdoor pubs have all rolled up the welcome mats, but it won't be too long before they go back out…
Had a very good time at the Unknown Legend Musician's Relief Fund benefit at R. Landry's. All the acts were excellent, and much needed funds were raised for the relief fund. This is a cool project, anyway: it is specifically designed to be there for musicians and their families in those unexpected times of need…and let's face it, folks in this line of work have their share of "unexpected" surprises.
Dori and Natalie were excellent hosts and all who attended came away with full bellies and music dancing in their brains. Dayton Waters, The Tom Ware Trio, Chris Cameron and Oreo Blue all donated their time and exceptional talents - not to mention their Sunday afternoons - toward this worthy cause. They are to be applauded and appreciated.
Landry's checks in with a typically excellent music menu for the coming weeks: look for the likes of The Bannister Brothers, JuJu & The Jugernauts, Mike Blackwell, Dave Holland, Grant Pierson, The Tiffany Christopher Band, Travis Linville, Mighty Moon Frogs, Betty Soo & Nervous But Excited, Harmica legend RJ Mischo, Wanda Watson, Gary Hutchison & Jody Andrews, The Chris Cameron Band, MoHave Shave and more to appear at the club.
In addition, Landry's just announced that they are adding such succulent entrees as Crab Legs, major steaks, and a whole bunch of new items to the menu…as well as a whole new beverage menu to boot.
To reach R. Landry's by phone, call (479)783-2505…….

The Rib Room is pretty much closed for the Winter season, with a couple notable exceptions: On Thanksgiving weekend look for The Klocks (Friday), and Velcro Pygmies (Saturday)…and then that's it until Spring rolls around.
Be sure to enjoy some of that award-winning barbecue while you're there. Hey…that turkey will get old before too long, so you should fill up the freezer with some of Neumeier's Ribs to get you through the lean times. In fact, call ahead before you go and order up a few racks to pick up. Do this or I assure you, you'll wish you had.
The Rib Room, along with the sunshine, will be back in a few short months when we can all do it again…
And if it's true that you are what you eat, by now I must be mostly barbecue.
For bookings and info call Bill at (479)494-RIBS…….

Hero's checks in with a pretty full calendar for the coming weeks. On the bill are The Crumbs, Ripple Effect, Cadillac Jackson, They Call Him Man Beast, The Hosty Duo, Super Smashed Brothers, Take 5, The Bret Rains Band, Chris Chew, Cadillac Jackson and more.
This nightclub is open 7 days a week, has good bar food, arcades, pool tables, and a full always well-stocked bar, and these days is showing all televised football on the big-screen.
And don't miss the $1 tacos they serve up on Tuesdays and Thursdays…and try the corn dogs…they're so good you'll be looking for corn dogs in the supermarket at four in the morning.
    Honest.
For bookings at the club call (479)784-5055…….

Someone swiped the Old Town Calendar so I can't really tell you who's coming. Thing is, this is such a sweet room, and the area players who tend to play there are so good, it is always a treat to frequent this nightclub. It is primarily an acoustic music room, but the crowd who calls it home is a wild and woolly bunch who create a great synergy.
Every Tuesday is Open Mic, Wednesday is Tom Ware & Friends, Thursday is Singer-Songwriter Night, and Happy Hour is every day (4-9).
    For bookings call (479)782-1999…….

Webby D's is always crowded, and that's 7 days a week, too.
In the coming weeks look for 3 Cent Genius, Quadrajet, Tragikly White, Cloud 9, S.I.C. (Self Inflicted Chaos), The Super Smashed Brothers and more.
Webby D's is open every day, with a great bar, multiple pool and billiards tables, arcades and live music on most days.
And every Thursday is Gabe Cunningham and Roger Jones working out acoustically.
And every Sunday is H.H.A.D.L.  (Happy Hour All Day Long)…
Webby Ds is a so-called private club, but membership fees are nominal at best, and their pool tables are usually pretty busy.
    For bookings call (479)651-7555…….

Bordertown Barbecue & Catering, at 7000 Highway 71, has a fine calendar of music in the coming weeks.
Look for Cloud 9, Willin' & Able, Robert Presley, Sultans of Schwing, Joshua Thomas and Gary Hutchison to appear, and there's never any telling just who might drop by and sit in.
Plus, the food at Bordertown is really excellent.
Bordertown has a huge outdoor beer garden, a couple full bars, and a very fine menu.
    For bookings call (479)646-4900…….

Second Street Live checks in with a strong line-up: Catch Will Mendenhall, The incredible Subdudes, Kelly Hunt and Rockin' Acoustic Circus to appear in December.
Check out secondstreetlive.com for many more details and dates, and to keep up with this burgeoning music venue.
    And call (479)719-8783 for details…

The latest word we hear is that the Hangin' Judge Saloon has closed its doors. It's a cool facility, though, and I suspect someone will reopen it before terribly long. After all, it's conveniently located, has name recognition, and is well-equipped as a musical watering hole. What more can you ask?

In Northwest Arkansas…
Things in this mountain town are pretty wild these days, but when the Hogs are on the ball the excitement can't help but permeate the atmosphere.
And on the ball they are this year, too…having readily won most of the games this season.

Of course George's is the king when it comes to music offerings.
Set to appear in the coming weeks at the club are The Punch Brothers with Chris Thile, Tyrannosaurus Chicken, Where's Lawrence, The Memphis Pencils, Niall, The Kory Montgomery Band, Earl & Them, Tiffany Christopher, The Pope County Bootleggers, Johnny Cooper, Zoogma, Montu, Jason Boland & The Stragglers, The Bel Airs, Ultra Suede, JJ Grey & Mofro, The Dead Kenny Gs with Mike Dillon & Skerik, 10 Years With American Fang, Ayurveda, The Bob Kramer Incident, songsmith Robert Earl Keen, Justin Moore, Cadillac Jackson, Soulfly, Straightline Stitch, SilverStone, the Nace Brothers, the Odds, Speakeasy and a bunch more.
And make a point to get to the club on Thanksgiving Saturday for the Blues In The Natural State festival. This show will feature the award-winning band BrickFields (who are the OBS's entrée to the International Blues Competition). Also on the bill will be Nathan A & Max RPM, 100 Proof, Isayah Warford and Jeff Chaz. It should be major fun.
This is the oldest live music venue in the entire Altered State.
For bookings contact Brian or Harold at (479)527-6618…….

The Smoke & Barrel Tavern checks in this issue with a very fine list of performers. Look for Sarah Hughes, Grown Folks, Six Hung Sprung, Perpetual Werewolf, We Are Kilroy, Arrowhead Project, The Atomic Duo, Peter, Paul & Pelphrey, Devil's Promenade, Tyrannosaurus Chicken, The Matt Smith Group, Scott Leeper, Cletus Got Shot, Electronic Stimulus Package, The Pope County Bootleggers, and much more.
And on December 10th the club is celebrating its 2 Year Anniversary, with $1 PBRs and the band Charliehorse to entertain you.
    Congrats all around.
The Smoke & Barrel is open for your party pleasures every day and night.
    For bookings call (479)521-6880…….

Jose's will feature The Odds for New Year's Eve, but otherwise is laying off the music pretty much until the warm weather lets them go outside to play.
The club will be sporatically having bands in the back room however so watch for that.
For bookings and information call (479)521-0194…….

Mojo's Pints and Pies has become a premier music room. On the bill in the coming weeks are The Odds, RJ Mischo & His Red Hot Blues Band, Wade's Not Coming, Charliehorse, The Sarah Hughes Band, Chooch & The Side Hill Gougers, Ransom and more.
And you should definitely try the food. While their specialty is pizza (hence the name…"and Pies"), they have some mouthwatering sandwiches and extremely good salads as well.
For bookings call Denise at (479)935-3459…….

We were unable to reach anyone at the Greenhouse Grille to get their line-up this time out. Suffice it to say that the club is operated by some rather serious music freaks, and they frequently feature a fine assortment of talent from jazz to their own resident harpist. Check it out.
The Greenhouse Grille is located at 318 So. Archibald Yell in Fayetteville. To reach them by phone call (479)444-8909…….

Rogue Pizza has changed hands once again, only this time to some folks who really know about music. Look for a lot to happen in the near future…
    To reach them call (479)571-5200…….

I can't close out this column without making mention of the fact that the city powers-that-be have put the bite on Dickson Street with the stupid parking issue. Ultimately they have marked every possible parking spot for paid parking. The word on the street is that the city needs to raise funds to give the Walton Art Center several hundred thousand dollars. Considering the Walton family collectively is the wealthiest group of people in the country I ask you: what's wrong with this picture?
    Sure.
The only reason I shop at Walmart is that I know the Walton's need the money. It's enough to make me drive out of my way to shop almost anywhere else, you know?!
    Food for thought…….
